Estimados,
It has been awhile since my last post, 5 months to be exact. I could come up with an excuse like I have been touring as Justin Beiber’s latino back-up dancer, I opened an empanada food truck or have been embarking on a basket-weaving documentary with the Yanomami tribe in southern Venezuela, but alas my young life just isn’t that interesting. In reality I have been doing yes, less drooling, but more screaming, more growing, and more tormenting of our fragile little pup, Princesa.
With that said though, I thought I would give you all a glimpse into my life here during September, a magnificent month as Chile’s independence day is the 18th and literally the festivities begin starting the first of the month through the 20th, or basically whenever people want to stop eating salchichas and drinking fermented wine. To kick things off I figured being that I now wear pants as opposed to one-piece jumpers I naturally needed an automobile this year. I had my eye on grandma’s car –
She popped in though right before I could pull out and at that point the jig was up –
Oh well, good thing there is a bounty of taxis that could facilitate my transportation to a fonda. For you non-Spanish speakers, a fonda in the context of independence month is a large area, such as a park or field, converted into a massive outdoor party complete with food, dancing, drinking, games, you name it. Chileans got cute with the name, with the most popular fonda known as the “Jein (Jane) Fonda.”

Pops recently brought me back some new PJs, a gift from my grandparents (Opa and Mama Rita) and a stylish Elmo Learns to Go Potty doll. Keep that last one between us.
Been a solid month and I promise the next post won’t be in 5 more months.
