Get your sopaipilla on

If you can’t pronounce it, you’re not in the minority. One of the harder words my Dad had to get his head around down here, but ohh so necessary. The sopaipilla is winter warmth, a breath of fresh flat bread, smartly fashioned, even flakey to the touch, and down-right addictive to the point of thoughts of how to punish yourself for having eaten so many when you know you’re already pushing at least 8 pounds overweight and those Banana Republic chinos are riding tight and tossing them would be a psychological blow to the premise that you’re still at your undergraduate college weight and nothing will convince you otherwise.

Sounds healthy right? Healthy they’re not, but made of pumpkin they are!

Once you’ve got the pumpkin, the rest sort of puts itself in motion. Here’s the process, take note …

And that salsa deal is called pebre. Highly recommended as a lighter alternative to guacamole dip which complements nicely on everything from mashed potatoes to rice to pasta and even risotto. It’s a malleable condiment and deserves to be recognized as such.

An all around solid outing (we never left the house to be honest), and a great beginning to the week. On a side-note, Pops commented that King James is coming to Los Angeles. My head has been in the World Cup, but this is big news to say the least. Best of luck to the Lake-Show, another title will arrive but not sure James will be a part of it. If Lonzo manages to lock his father in a farmhouse on the outskirts of Nebraska for the length of the season, then we might have a shot. Stay tuned!

Lively comments, with tasty morsels to consider. Don’t be too tough on Lavar Ball. He brings much attention to basketball and his sons – something a basketball loving father might well appreciate. It is all show time, adding buzz to sport pages and broadcasts. Too many other players are dull and listless, overlooked by all but the most die heart fans.

Michael–so great to see you on the air waves again. Do those sopaillpias send well to the USA?? They look delish. And, your Dad totally looks like he did in his undergraduate years. Happy 4th of July!! Your dad will have to explain that to you… Love, Aunt JuJa & Uncle Bob
